Google Pay Per Click (PPC) Advertising
There is no denying that search engines, primarily Google, have become our #1 way of finding the information that we seek. Type in a few words (also known as keywords) into the search engine and within a fraction of a second we are presented with millions of results from millions of websites. The good news is that it is probably easier than ever for us to find information and there is very little stopping you from putting information on the internet. The bad news is that virtually everyone has a website so being near or at the top for a particular search results page can be extremely difficult, especially for new businesses that are competing against companies that have been around for many years. With that in mind, Google Pay Per Click (PPC) ads can be a great way to put your website at or near the top of certain search results in a particular area which can then turn into leads, which will hopefully turn into new customers and growth for your business.
Pay Per Click (PPC) Frequently Asked Questions
-
To generate a healthy stream of leads and new web traffic, we recommend spending no less than $500 a month on PPC ads. However, how many ads/clicks this will generate will depend on the region(s) you are serving ads to, the number of ads you are running simultaneously, and how competitive the keywords are that others might also be advertising on.
-
These ads are text based and appear like typical Google search results but will have the word Sponsored next to them to indicate that they are an ad.
-
These ads primarily show up in Google search result listings, but depending on the ad format they can also show up in Google Maps results.
-
You can serve ads for as long or as short as you want, but we recommend at least 30 days.
-
Yes, with PPC ads you can limit your ads to a specific area such as a city, county, and/or state. You can also make them show up in multiple cities/counties/states. Unlike geofencing ads though, you can’t target specific addresses or smaller areas such as a school or neighborhood.
-
Yes, if you wanted your ad(s) to show up when someone Googles a competitor that is definitely possible. If you know of a competitor that happens to dominate your industry this can be a very effective way in showing people an alternative. Just keep in mind they have the same option to do that to you.
-
It is always a good idea to be very specific with your ads, such as what you are advertising and who you are advertising to, so generally speaking we do not recommend sending out ads nation-wide unless it naturally fits your business model.
-
Some ads, such as political ads, may have some restrictions, especially in certain states. We will notify you at the beginning if any restrictions may be applicable to your campaign.
-
PPC ads can be extremely effective in generating qualified leads because your ads are only showing up when people are typing in very specific words into Google’s search engine. Unlike Facebook and Geofencing ads that are shown “to the masses”, your ads are only showing up when people are searching for keywords that are on your list.
-
Facebook ads are more likely to generate more impressions and possibly more clicks, but these ads are also not as targeted as Pay Per Click ads are so you may not get as high-quality leads from Facebook as you would from Google. Additionally, virtually everyone uses Google to find information where fewer people are using Facebook to do that.
-
Geofencing ads are visual ads that show up after someone has crossed an invisible fence around a certain area, such as a building, school, neighborhood, zip code, city, etc. This means you can target ads to a specific, very small area, where PPC ads are typically on the city-level. However, geofencing ads are also “shown to the masses” in these areas so you could have a high percentage of ad recipients that have no interest or need for what the ad is trying to sell. Geofencing ads can serve many more impressions for the same money as PPC ads, but PPC ads normally see much higher click through rates since people are searching for something specific.
-
It is very rare for someone to rank well in “all” of the search results that could potentially bring in business, so PPC ads can still be of benefit to you as long as the ads are targeted in the right way. Additionally, it is very likely your competition will try to take business from you with ads of their own so we recommend at least some kind of web ads.
